It is a member of the Virginia Beach Swim League, a summer recreation league. Each meet consists of 69 events, relays and individual events, utilizing the skills of four strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Competition is by age group: 6 & under, 8 & under, 10 & under, 12 & under, 14 & under, 18 & under. Age is determined by the swimmer's age on June 15 of the current year. Children should be comfortable in the water and be able to swim the length of the pool. Please note that coaches cannot provide swimming lessons during practices. All Salem Woods Swim Team members who are residents of Salem Woods must pay annual SWCA dues of $60. In addition, each team member must have either a Salem Woods pool membership or an Associate swim membership.
