SALEM WOODS CIVIC ASSOCIATION BOARD MEETING
5/6/09

The Board Meeting of the Salem Woods Civic Association was called to order at 7:10 p.m. by
President Kirk Traber with the following Board members present: Scott Kittell, Heidi Rosen,
Wayne Barnett and Eileen Beckert. Susan Bratke, Belinda Traber and Kathy Toll were
also in attendance.

Old Business: There was no old business to discuss.

New Business:

Facilities, Wayne Barnett:

The pump burned up. A new pump has been ordered and should be here soon. We may
have to delay the pool opening if the pump doesn’t get here in time to allow pool cleanup
and passing of inspection. There is also an issue with the need for a cover over the
drain of the small pool which will be resolved. So far, seven lifeguards have been hired.
We are hoping for more. Two lifeguards went elsewhere for better pay. Our new pool
manager is Alex Dove. Wayne will check with lifeguards regarding swim lessons at the
pool this summer.

Spirit, Vacant;

The board discussed various pool opening celebration possibilities. During the weekend
of Memorial Day, May 23, 24. and 25th, the pool entrance fee will be free to all Salem
Woods residents. We will offer hot dogs and hamburgers for free and concessions for a
fee (chips, etc.) on Saturday the 23rd from 1 – 3 p.m.

On May 30th, we will have a paid function from 12 – 5p.m. catered by Bubba’s for
approximately $6.95/per adult and $3/child 10 & under. Food will be served from 1 – 3
p.m. Belinda is checking on pricing. There will be free entrance for SWCA members and
other residents of Salem Woods will be charged a $5 entrance fee. We will have raffle
items to be raffled. Scott has a connection with USA Discounters and is trying to find out
if they will offer some items for a raffle at this or other summer events.

President, Kirk Traber:

Kirk has meet with the lawyer regarding our deed restrictions, since currently only
Section 6 is a legally “deed restricted” area. Other sections were never filed in court.
We must have all areas legally deed restricted for our articles of incorporation to be valid.
The lawyer will be filing the deeds to read the same as section 6 and will also rewrite our
by-laws. Upon completion of recorded deeds, if someone is in violation of our
community standards they may be taken to court and since it will be a legal violation the
resident at fault would most likely have to pay court fees, not SWCA.
