Salem Woods Civic Association Board Meeting
1/03/08
The Board Meeting of the Salem Woods Civic Association was called to order by President Dr.
Barry Ezell on January 3, 2008 at 7 p.m.
Board Members present included Dr. Barry Ezell, Heidi Rosen, Jim and Maureen Newton, Sarah
Ezell, Amy Martinez, Chic Adams and Pete Leavitt. Office Manager Kathy Toll was also present.
Dr. Ezell moved that the minutes from the December meeting be approved. The motion was
seconded, and the motion carried.
Old Business: Eric Petterson’s son’s Eagle Project to landscape the areas around the pool was
approved. Sandler and Sons have agreed to contribute something toward the development of our
new park on Revere Dr. and will let us know what they can do for us in the next few weeks.
Dr. Ezell presented the “to do list” which will keep us on track monthly with our projects and
responsibilities. Discussion ensued on getting the office internet access so Kathy Toll can
correspond with the Board and residents via email and receive paypal information for SWCA
payments.
Chic Adams informed us that he would be resigning from his position as Marketing chairperson.
He was thanked for a job well done. He has recently distributed flyers to drum up membership in
Salem Woods.
Maureen Newton has volunteered to take over the Treasurer’s position. She will find someone
else to fill the Swim Team Representative spot. Maureen is also going to check with Salem
Middle School on ways to distribute pool membership to students and their families.
Heidi Rosen, Vice President, discussed membership numbers and a projected income of 59K for
the 2008 Recreation season. Further discussion on the budget to ensue next month.
Jim Newton, Facilities Maintenance, discussed needed repairs at the office and Rothwell pool /
building locations, and the pool budget for 2008. It will be fine-tuned in the next month as we
want to operate in the black this year and keep expenses within budget.
Pete Leavitt spoke with the police department and they have declined having a semi-permanent
post at the small pool office location stating that they need to be mobile in the community to
address crime. They are willing to stop by the office occasionally during normal business hours
