Notes from May 7, 2006 SWCA community meeting.
In addition to the prepared slide show, the following was discussed:

1. President’s number one issue is increasing membership

2. Small pool – when will it be open? SWCA board working on swim at your own risk
policy for next year

3. Can we put a chain on the small pool parking lot similar to the large pool?

4. 80% of data base management is complete. Reviewed web site status
This is our number one method of communications (over 25 thousand visitors since
end of March)

5. Mr. and Mrs. Steven Shrader – yard of the month winner. 1600 Fanwood Ct was
YOM runner up. Discussed the criteria for garden club (gardener’s guild) “yard of
the month”; Flowers, landscaping, shrubbery – flower are not the only criterion for
selection. Every house in the neighborhood is in the running and is reviewed.
There was a discussion of garden club meeting times and activities.
Can we give some incentives for YOM winner? Next board meeting will determine
the issues of making YOM a more structured program with some tangible benefit
for the winner. Can the garden club put more information for a “tip of the month”
on the web site? Inside and outside plant tips, etc.,

6. We gave the mission/vision statements a “test drive”
Vision – the term “voluntary civic organization” may need to be revisited –
how many others are there?

7. The whole community benefits from SWCA activities – not just members

8. Goals reviewed. Board submits that these goals should be increased Safety
(reduction of safety and security incidents), increased prosperity, increase civility,
increased fellowship through neighborhood activities

9. Pete Leavitt (Sloane Ct.) will be police point of contact for the organization.
